Govt will name a varsity after Kaloji: CM HYDERABAD: A day after instituting an award in the name of poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya, chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday paid tributes to Kaloji Narayna Rao, a freedom fighter and people's poet, by announcing that his birth anniversary, September 9, would be celebrated as 'Telangana Language Day' every year.
The department of culture and Kaloji Foundation organised the event at Ravindra Bharathi here. The chief minister announced that a state university would be named after Kaloji.
'It is most unfortunate that Kaloji is not with us when his dream state came true today. I have always been a fan of Kaloji's writings. He never wrote poems to be called a poet but he wrote for the humanity.'
Though Kaloji wrote in Telugu, he was a master of several other languages like Urdu, Marathi, Kannada and Hindi, Rao said and described him as a universal writer.
'It is not fair to restrict a great personality like Kaloji to a geographical place. His writings address the humanity across the world. To popularise his writings in other parts of the world, the state government will have his works translated into several languages including some foreign languages. The Assembly would pass a resolution urging the Centre to release commemorative postage stamp on Kaloji.
