TDP failed to fulfil poll promises, says Botsa Vijayawada, September 10: During the TDP's 10-year reign many farmers committed suicide. There is every possibility of such situation coming back in the State due to the present government's apathy to farmers and DWCRA groups, he said.
Congress was contesting Nandigama bye-elections to fight for people's cause and not to derive any political mileage. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government has failed to fulfil its poll promises, especially crop loans and DWCRA group loan waiver. Congress will create awareness among people about the government's failure, said former APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana.
Congress always strived for welfare of SCs/ STs and other sections of society and it was Congress which introduced SC/ ST Sub-Plan. TDP is not committed to welfare of SCs / STs and low income groups as there is no clarity from government over the plan, alleged Mr. Satyanarayana.
It has been 100 days since the TDP came to power but not even one poll promise was fulfilled. Forget about crop loan or DWCRA group loan waiver, not a single loan was sanctioned to farmers. In fact, banks were issuing gold auction notices to them and DWCRA groups, he said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

On the government's decision to make Vijayawada region as Capital, Satyanarayana welcomed the decision but not the manner in which it was announced. It appears to be a politically motivated decision to benefit one particular section of society.
An all-party meeting should have been convened and recommendations of Sivaramakrishnan Committee discussed, he said.
