Warangal among 100 smart cities list Warangal : Warangal city is among the five Telangana cities to figure in the list of 100 smart cities identified for development by the Central government in the 2014-15 budget allocations.
The historic capital of Kakatiya dynasty is identified along with Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Nalgonda by the Centre for expediting several developmental activities.
Guntur, Vijayawada, Kurnool and Chittoor cities also figure in the list from Andhra Pradesh State in the smart city proposals and the Centre has allocated funds to the tune of Rs.7060 crore during the current year budget for executing development works.
As part of the new proposal the smart city identified by the government, it would be provided several unique schemes and satellite townships in the region would be given thrust in the development process.
In Warangal, the city surrounded by newly appended 43 gram panchayaths in the Greater Warangal Municipal corporation limits would be given priority in the new development works.
About 46 satellite townships spread across the triple town limits would be given attention in the development activity implementation. The Central government of NDA is keen on initiating works much before the announcement of election schedule for the Warangal municipal corporation.
