India emerging as investment destination: Javedkar Hyderabad, Sept 11 (INN): Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar on Thursday claimed that India has emerged as the favourite investment destination after BJP came to power at the Centre three months ago.
Addressing a press conference at the State BJP office here, Javedkar said that BJP-led NDA Government took immediate measures to attract investments in different sectors.
He said that the attractive policies and approach adopted by the Centre revived the country's image as a favourite investment destination. He said several businessmen of Indian origin, who had gone to foreign countries, have now started returning to their homeland with huge investments.
Javedkar, who also hold the portfolio of Environment, informed that strict norms have been put in place for the cement industry to protect environment.
However, he said the process of giving environment clearances has been decentralised by granting more powers to the States concerned. The applications for environment clearances are now being accepted only through online.
He also informed that the Centre has recently convened the meeting of Natural Board of Wildlife and cleared several projects which were pending due to non-conduct of board's meeting for the last 17 months.
The Union Minister said that the last 100 days of NDA Government were quite successful and several measures aimed at welfare of poor were initiated.
