Vizag to host India-West Indies ODI on Oct 14
VISAKHAPATNAM: It's time for the cricket-lovers in Port City to get ready for an international cricket match. A day-night One-Day International cricket match between India and West Indies will be played at the YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium in Madhurawada on October 14.
This will be the third One-Day International match between the teams, which is a part of the five match ODI series of West Indies touring India, starting October 8. Incidentally this will also be the first international match to be held in the city after the bifurcation of the state.
Announcing the details of the match here Thursday, the Andhra Cricket Association authorities said that the match would be held from 1.30 to 9.15 pm.
As many as 25,700 tickets would be sold through e-Seva centres, online and at a counter set up near the stadium. Some complimentary tickets will be also given to VIPs. The date of issue of the tickets will be announced shortly, they said.
Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) chairman and Organising Committee member MT Krishna Babu said that precautions would be taken for the peaceful conduct of the match and added that the city police would take care of parking and security at the venue, while the municipal authorities would look after sanitation, food, ticket and issue of passes.
'The APSRTC will run sufficient buses to the venue and the details about traffic issues would be announced later,' he added.
The ticket rates are fixed at `250 (for club members only), `400, `1,000, `1,500, `2,000 and `5,000. There will no `3,000 tickets this time, the authorities said. The `2,000 and `5,000 tickets will be sold only online, while the others will be available at e-Seva centres and the counter at stadium, they added.
The ACA has arranged for 10 different committees including ground committee, reception committee, food and Beverages committee to check the proceedings of the match.
'Another review meeting with the board of organisers will be conducted on Oct 4 to finalise the arrangements,' Krishna Babu explained. ACA president DV Subba Rao, general secretary G Ganga Raju and district collector N Yuvaraj also spoke.
