Four-lane road from Nalgonda to Mahabubnagar NALGONDA: The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 350 crore to convert the Nalgonda-Mahabubnagar road into a four-lane road for easy movement of traffic on this section.
This 160-km stretch, which provides a short cut from Nalgonda to Srisailam and Bangalore, witnesses a heavy flow of traffic daily - mainly that of vehicles carrying cement to the Srisailam and Mahabunagar and those transporting heavy machineries from Bangalore to here.
And, because of its present narrowness, huge traffic snarls have become a daily affair disrupting the movement of the vehicles up and down. However, the traffic snarls are set to become a feature of the past once the road is made into four-lane.
It may be recalled here that the Congress government in the then undivided state had commissioned a survey for the expansion of this road. The survey was completed two years back but there was no follow-up action by the government. Thus, it has been left to the TRS government to take up the expansion work now.
Accordingly, the government has asked the officials concerned to prepare a plan of action for the road expansion work covering issues like land acquisition, resettlement of affected persons (if any), relocation of water pipes etc.
