KTR releases vision document for Panchayat Raj
Hyderabad, Sept 12 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Saturday announced that 1192 ST Tandas would be accorded the status of Gram Panchayats before the conduct of next Panchayat Raj elections.
Speaking to media persons after releasing the Vision Document of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development here, KTR also informed about e-Panchayats would be set up in about 2,000 villages in the first phase. The new pension schemes will be launched from Dussera and they will be linked with bio-metric system.
He also informed that the roads in all villages in Telangana State would be improved as per the guidelines of Indian Road Congress and their development would be done with the funds under PM Grameena Sadak Yojana with contribution by the State Government. There are also plans to construct 500 new godowns to secure the food grains.
The Minister said that the State Government was in favour of granting more powers to Sarpanches. However, while granting more powers, the Sarpanches would also be made accountable for the implementation of developmental schemes.
He said that the scheme Mana Vooru - Mana Pranalika is being effectively implemented. He said that the TRS Government wants to ensure transparency and zero corruption in administration at all levels. He said nearly 1.20 crore saplings would be planted in the first phase of Haritha Vanam.
With regard to the Intensive Household Survey, KTR informed that nearly 96 lakh entries have been computerised and the entire work would be completed in the next five days.
When asked for reaction on the comments of former union minister S Jaipal Reddy stating that TRS Government has spoiled the brand image of Hyderabad, he said that the Congress party was responsible for the present problems being faced by the people of Telangana.
He said that Hyderabad's brand image was affected due to non-inclusion of names of TPCC Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former ministers and some IAS officials in the chargesheet for the irregularities they indulged in during Congress rule.
