Naidu reviews with official on pension roll-out plan
Hyderabad, Sept 19 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that the government would roll out pensions for eligible persons from October 2.
The state government has increased pensions by five times, i.e., to Rs1,000 for senior citizens, weavers and widows. For the physically challenged, pension of Rs1,500 will be given.
In a review meeting held at the CM Camp Office today, the Chief Minister has asked officials to weed out bogus/ineligible pensioners and make a list of pensioners for every village in the state.
He has asked officials to publish a pensioners' list in every village in the order of priority. The priority list is one that is made after Aadhar seeding has been done with respective individuals' accounts.
The Chief Minister has ordered officials to ensure that pensioners from backward areas and areas affected by Kidney diseases and other ailments be given a priority in rolling out pensions.
He has directed officials to assess eligible pensioners based on age and poverty levels. The government has decided that age will be a major factor for pension eligibility. The age considered for pension roll-out is 60 years.
Chandrababu Naidu added that every family will get one pension based on the eligibility of pensioner after assessment. He added that pensions to widows also will be given based on the same factors. However, exceptions will be made in giving pensions to a couple above 80 years of age if they have no identity proofs or dependents.
The Chief Minister said that a 6-member mandal-level committee, consisting of MPTCs, Sarpanches and social workers, will be formed to select pensioners and bring out the priority list.
In addition, the Chief Minister has directed officials to publicise the public grievance and support helpline 1100.
Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao, IT advisor J. Satyanarayana, special chief secretary (planning department) SP Tucker, advisor (communications) to government of AP Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, CEO of SERP B. Rajasekhar and other officials were present at the meeting.
