Bathukamma festivities begins on grand note HYDERABAD: Bathukamma festival celebrations kicked off with a cultural programme organised by the Telangana government's department of language and culture at Ravindra Bharati here on Wednesday.
There was a festive cheer all around as women from across the state took part in the festivities with tremendous enthusiasm and splendour.
'This is a very important occasion for all of us since it celebrates the true spirit of our culture. This time of the year, all of us come together to celebrate the gift of life. It is a time of sharing and togetherness,' said Vasantha a housewife.
All the women gathered around in a circle and clapped in unison while dancing to Bathukamma folk music. It was followed by a Bharatnatyam performance by a group of young women from Satguru Sri Shivananda Nruthyamala, Warangal. The celebrations at Ravindra Bharati will go on till October 2.
