Re-survey of lake adjacent to N Convention Center HYDERABAD: The joint teams hailing from Revenue, Irrigation, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Survey and Land Records departments took up a fresh survey of Tammidi Kunta lake near Hi-tec City.
The high-profile N-Convention Centre owned by Tollywood actor Nagarjuna was found to be built on lands encroaching the full tank level (1.3 acres) and the buffer zone (2 acres) of Tammidi Kunta lake.
Apart from the centre, there are a few other properties that have come around the lake. After the completion of the survey, a report would be submitted to the GHMC and revenue department for taking necessary action to remove encroachments, if any.
The resurvey of the lake was necessitated as per the opinion given by the Advocate General. The GHMC after receiving the orders from the High Court last month on the centre, it has referred the same to the Advocate General.
Before proceeding with any action on the centre, the AG asked GHMC to carry out a fresh survey of the lake in the presence of owners or representatives of centre where they alleged that the previous survey was done in their absence.
GHMC officials told that they have written letter to Revenue and Irrigation departments to fix the FTL boundaries a few days ago. They also issued a notice to the centre informing that a fresh survey would be taken up.
The GHMC officials said the High Court, in its orders, had directed the corporation to take action against the convention centre while following due procedures of law.
It may be mentioned that joint teams who carried out the FTL survey of Tammidi Kunta found that 3.3 acres of the centre was built on illegal land. While two acres fall in the buffer zone, another 1.3 acres of illegal land falls in the FTL level of the lake. The centre is spread across 6.9 acres.
The brand new convention centre has three function halls with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
