TTD nets Rs 1 Cr through room rents TIRUMALA: In keeping with its penchant for setting records, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has done so again. This time it has set a record by way of collection of rents - which have crossed the Rs 1 cr mark during the ongoing Salakatla Brahmotsavam-2014 of Lord Balaji.
P Venkataiah, the Deputy Executive Officer in charge of Reception (accommodation), attributed the record rent collection to the efficient and transparent management of the allotment of various types of rooms to the lakhs of devotees thronging the hill shrine during the ongoing mega religious event.
He however put the occupancy rate of the accommodation at 82 % -- with 5,434 rooms out of 7,365 being allotted to the devotees.
He said that compared to the pilgrim turnout during the Brahmotsavams - 2013, the occupancy rate had gone down by 9 per cent and added that it was due to the developments in neighboring Tamil Nadu.
