Naidu launches NTR Bharosa scheme VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to people to turn AP into 'Swachh Andhra Pradesh' on Thursday. He was in Vijayawada to launch a slew of new schemes.
After launching the 'Swachh Bharat' programme along with Union minister Nirmala Seetharaman at Prakashnagar, the CM cleaned drains and participated in the 'Swachh Bharat' rally.
He interacted with people all along the 2.5-km distance covered by the and urged them to take the responsibility in keeping the surroundings clean. He also planted trees on the occasion. Later, the CM launched the much-publicised 'NTR Sujala' scheme by inaugurating a water plant at Dabha Kotla Centre.
Naidu launched the 'NTR Bharosa' scheme at MBP Municipal Grounds. According to the scheme, pensions for old-aged people and widows have been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 and for the handicapped to Rs 1,500.
The CM said that it was important to make sure that the benefits of the scheme reached the needy people. 'To ensure transparency in implementation of the scheme, we shall display the names of beneficiaries on the website. If there are any ineligible poeple, anyone can complain. Similarly, if any eligible person is missed they can inform us,' the CM said.
Twenty per cent of farm loans would be waived by Oct 22, the CM said and announced that a Farmers' Empowerment Corporation would be set up and 20 per cent of farm loans would be waived by Oct 22.
CM said that farm loans would be waived over a span of five years. The govt was providing financial assistance to a tune of Rs 7,600 crore to the DWCRA groups, he added.
Urging the people to make the 'Swachh Andhra Pardesh' successful, the CM pointed out that the people who do not use toilets are not human beings.
Terming open defacation a social evil, he urged every one to come forward to make 'Swachh AP' successful by giving up the habit of open defecation. He said that every home should have a toilet and stressed buildling community toilets in every village.
The CM, who was very focussed on turning the state into 'Swachh AP', said that the government would explore all options to turn waste into wealth and announced that a corporation would be set up to achieve the goal.
