BHEL to set up 6000 MW power plants in Telangana Hyderabad, Oct 4 (INN): The Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TS GENCO), represented by its Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao, and Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), represented by its Chairman and Managing Director B Prasad Rao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Saturday in the Telangana Secretariat in presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to establish 6000MW of Thermal Power plants in Telangana State on EPC basis.
The BHEL, a Central Public Sector undertaking, is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India and is one of the leading companies in the field of power plant equipment.
BHEL's range of services extends from project feasibility through design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning to after sales service. At present TS GENCO has an installed power generating capacity of about 4364 MW both thermal and hydel and has the technical capability and expertise in the area of installing, owning, operating and maintaining the power plants.
The BHEL has already executed thermal power projects in Telangana in Bhupalapally, Singareni Collieries and Kothagudem and their performance is above the national average of the plant load factor.
The Chief Minister has reposed faith and confidence in BHEL, being a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking. The BHEL as part of its obligations will set up the project as the nominated EPC contractor and will execute the entire project within the next three years.
Finance Minister Etela Rajender, Education Minister Jagadeeshwar Reddy, MP Jitender Reddy, MLCs Bhanu Prasad, Yadava Reddy, Jagadeeshwar, Indrasena Reddy and Bhupal Reddy, Special Representative at New Delhi Venugopala Chary, Advisor to Government Papa Rao, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Principle Secretary to CM S Narsing Rao, Secretary Energy SK Joshi, Khammam District Collector K Illambarithi, BHEL ED Venkatakrishnan and BHEL Super Specialist (Mktg) S Gopalakrishnan wer present when the MoU was signed and exchanged.
