Sell unused lands to govt, KCR tells NRIs HYDERABAD: The TRS government, which is finding it difficult to spot sufficient government and private land for its ambitious scheme of distributing three acres each to landless Dalit families in the state, has now begun appealing to Telangana NRIs and industrialists to sell their unused land to the government.
TS chief minister and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed to Telangana NRIs and industrialists to this effect. While addressing a joint session of the TRS Parliamentary Party, legislature party, state committee and politburo at the Telangana Bhavan here, the TRS chief said there were many NRIs and industrialists, who are in possession of large extent of land in the state, which is not in use.
Hence, if they sell it to the state government under the Land Purchase Scheme, it could be used for distribution to Dalits. The scheme, an election promise of the ruling TRS, was launched by KCR on August 15 on the Independence Day.
Land for STs too:
KCR disclosed that the state government would be starting a similar land distribution scheme for landless Scheduled Tribes next July. 'We want to extend a similar scheme to STs so that the landless in that community will get the benefit and become self-reliant. We will be allocating funds for the scheme in the ensuing budget,' he said.
He called upon his party MPs and MLAs to see that the land distribution scheme is implemented in their respective constituencies in a transparent manner.
The CM said his government was taking up restoration of minor irrigation tanks on a priority basis and would be spending Rs 25,000-30,000 crore for the purpose. 'We want to provide drinking water to every house in the next three years,' he remarked.
NOMINATED POSTS
In an effort to fulfil his poll promise of taking care of party workers who took part in the Telangana movement actively, the TRS boss has decided to accommodate them in nominated posts in the government.
'There are about 4,000 nominated posts in the government. I want to accommodate our party leaders and workers who had actively taken part in the Telangana movement. I want to accommodate 300 to 400 workers from each district in these posts so that all the districts are covered,' KCR said.
GOVT PROGRAMMES
KCR asked all the ministers, MPs and MLAs to go to their respective constituencies after the budget session, which is likely to begin on October 20, to oversee the implementation of all government schemes and programmes.
'Our programmes should reach all the beneficiaries. TRS government is not like previous governments. It wants all the decisions taken by the Cabinet to be implemented in letter and spirit,' he emphasised.
STATUES TO GO
The TS CM made it clear that the statues of Andhra leaders would be removed from the Tank Bund in Hyderabad. 'We will remove all the statues of Andhra leaders and replace them with Telangana iconic figures,' he remarked. The state government would be soon taking a decision on the issue, he added.
PARTY PLENARY
KCR announced various committees to oversee the arrangements for the party's two-day plenary, scheduled to be held on October 11 and 12 in Hyderabad.
He asked ministers, MPs and MLAs to make all efforts to make the plenary a grand success. 'You should bring as many people from your respective constituencies as possible for the public meeting to be held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds,' he said.
CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN
The TRS government is planning to bring in a new Act in the coming budget session to control crimes against women. KCR said women's safety has been on the top of the agenda of the government and it would take all possible measures, including enacting stringent laws to check violence against women.
'I am planning to bring a stringent law for this purpose. People should think twice before committing crimes against women. I want to send all men involved in crimes against women to jail,' he added.
