Flipkart turns a flopkart after huge hype Hyderabad: Disgruntled customers and general public took to the social media to express their ire at Flipkart's much hyped Big Billion Day sale with many of them complaining about 'fake' discounts, refusal to take orders and several site crashes.
The Big Billion Day saw unprecedented amount of site crashes, while a few products were also sold out within minutes of the sale beginning at 8 am on Monday morning.
Some customers also accused the e-commerce giant of displaying 'fake' discounts, bringing some unwanted negative publicity for the retailer.Disappointed customers voiced their resentment on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
Some Facebook users shared blog posts which compared the prices of some random products on Flipkart over the past few weeks and showed how their prices had suddenly been increased during the run up to the day of sale.
Film writer Srinu Pandranki voiced his discontent on Facebook, accusing Flipkart of selling goods by using fake discounts. He posted, 'All discount sales are same like this. Fools are the ones who believe and buy.' Pointing to the error messages being thrown up by the Flipkart's servers, one of them tweeted humorously, 'Good news.
The 500 Internal Server Error pages are gone from Flipkart. Now you have 404 Page Not Found Error. 19.2 per cent off on error message." Some customers also claimed that their orders were not taken after the site reached its optimum 'pickup capacity'.
It is believed that the site reached 3 lakh orders, which is the maximum number of orders it can process in a day, by 2 pm, forcing the retailer to suspend all subsequent orders and classify them as 'pending'.
The fact that many products were sold out only 10 minutes after the start of the sale also drew flak from the online shoppers. One irate customer tweeted, 'Seriously Guys! Who Even Buy's Kamasutra Deo's? Even that is out of stock on #flipkart #BigBillionDay #flopkart'.
Others opined that Flipkart had failed to have adequate amount of stocks, which left many prospective customers disappointed. However, it looked like Flipkart was trying hard to keep the momentum going.
While acknowledging that customers are facing issues with the website, Flipkart official twitter handle exhorted customers not to miss out on the 'super discounts'. The site's handle also retweeted tweets of shoppers who were apparently delighted with the deals.
