KCR firm on '3 acres to dalits' HYDERABAD: Stating that main objective of distributing three acres land to Dalits in the state was to bring them out of poverty, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao sought complete cooperation from the district collectors for effective implementation of the programme.
In a video conference with district collectors and joint collectors on Tuesday, the chief minister said, 'Three Acres land for Dalits' is a flagship programme of his government and he is very much keen to have the programme successfully implemented.
It will be a continuous process and needed allocations will be made in the upcoming budget session and from next year onwards the programme will be further streamlined, he said and added the programme needs large pooling of land, hence the collectors need to acquire the necessary land, whereever available.
The chief minister said NRIs, and those who settled in Hyderabad have lands in rural areas and most of they are lying idle.
He wanted the district collectors to identify such lands and approach the persons concerned to acquire them. 'If the Dalits utilise those lands effectively and improve their economic levels, I will be more than satisfied,'' he said.
He asked the officials concerned to provide borewells fitted with motor pumpsets and power connection and also have the soil tested along with ground water availability.
Depending on the results of such tests, the Dalit farmer, to whom the land will be given, should be advised as to what crop should be cultivated, he said.
The chief minister asked the collectors and joint collectors to inspect the lands given to the Dalits every three months and give necessary advise. He said he too would inspect such lands during his visit to districts.
