18 TDP corporators likely to join TRS Hyderabad, Oct 9 (INN): The Telugu Desam Party is likely to suffer a major jolt in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation with 18 of its corporators deciding to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
According to sources, as many as 18 TDP Corporators of GHMC have given their consent to defect the TDP to join the ruling party. They are likely to meet Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in a day or two and might join the party along with five TDP legislators including Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Teegala Krishna Reddy.
Just like Talasani, who first met the Chief Minister on the pretext of representing the housing problem in his area, the TDP Corporators too will meet KCR seeking funds for development of Hyderabad.
Sources say that the TDP Corporators would get a confirmation from the Chief Minister that they would be given tickets from the divisions of their choice in the next GHMC polls. Only then, they will announce their joining with the TRS.
When contacted, TDP GHMC floor leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy denied the reports and described them as rumours. He said that that party was intact under the leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana TDP president L Ramana. He said only a few leaders with vested interest are leaving the TRS for their own personal gains.
