KCR to complain against Naidu Hyderabad: Carrying a long wish list, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao left for New Delhi on Thursday on a three-day visit during which he is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers.
The Chief Minister's wish list is worth Rs 15,000 crores in the form of various projects, schemes and grants. Apart from the Prime Minister, KCR is expected to meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Energy Minister Piyush Goel, Law minister Ravi Sankar Prasad and others to discuss issues important to the State.
Several issues are pending the consideration of the Central government and need a push for addressing them at the earliest. The State is facing severe power crisis and is in need of about 2,000 MW of power immediately.
Its efforts in addressing the issue have not yielded desired results and the Chief Minister might seek allocation of more power to the State from the unallocated quota.
Sources said KCR may complain to Modi against his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for coming in the way of due share of 54 per cent power supply to Telangana State despite AP Reorganization Act 2014 ensures it. He may raise the issue of Krishnapatnam power plant, from which Telangana should get about 240 mw of power as a rightful share but was denied due to the apathy of Andhra Pradesh Government.
Besides informing Modi on the efforts of the TRS Government which signed a memorandum of understanding with BHEL to produce 6000 MW in three years to tide over crisis, KCR may touch upon that his government has ordered to purchase 2000 MW power immediately.
The Chief Minister might also raise the issue of NTPC setting up a 4,000 mw of power plant in the State. The project made no headway in the last four months despite being pursued rigorously by the State government. According to sources, KCR is likely to present a report seeking Rs 15,000 crore worth package to the State under various programmes.
The State did not get funds from the Centre under programmes like backward areas development and others. Sources said that Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has played a key role in facilitating the Chief Minister's tour to Delhi.
He is believed to have advised KCR recently that frequent visits to Delhi would help improve relations with the Centre and resolve the issues. The Chief Minister visited Delhi on September 6 for the second time after assuming office and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukharjee.
During the visit, he invited the attention of the Centre on issues like BRGF, national project status to Pranahitha Chevella project, division of High Court and others. Official sources said that the Chief Minister is keen on improving the relations with the Centre so that it could help the State in the need of the hour.
Being a newly born State, Telangana is facing teething troubles and facing several challenges in various sectors and Centre's assistance is very much needed.
