Centre allocates AIS officers to AP and TS HYDERABAD: Ending the long wait of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments, the Centre has finally allocated All India Services (AIS) officers to both the States. Based on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee headed by Pratyush Sinha, the Department of Personnel and Training on Friday night issued a draft list of officers allocated to Andhra and Telangana.
Barring a few surprises, a majority of the officers were given their choice of cadre. Notably, Ajay Sawhney, currently serving as Principal Secretary in AP Chief Minister's Office, has been allocated to TS, while his preference was AP.
Somesh Kumar, GHMC Commissioner, has been allocated to AP though his preference was TS. TTD Executive Officer MG Gopal had preferred AP, though he is native of Khammam district. However, he has been allocated to TS cadre.
Stephen Ravindra, a 1999 batch IPS officer who faced criticism for his role during the Telangana stir at the Osmania University, has been allocated to TS though he preferred AP.
As per the DoPT, 163 posts of IAS, 112 of IPS and 65 of the Indian Forest Service officers (including promotes) have been allotted to Telangana. AP will now have 211 IAS, 144 IPS and 82 IFoS officers.
Representations or grievances, if any, on the allocation can either be mailed to the DoPT (in case of IAS officers) at 'dirais@nic.in' or faxed to 011-23092765. Similarly, IPS officers can mail to the Ministry of Home Affairs at 'jsp-mha@nic.in' or fax (011-24695348) by 5:30 p.m on Oct 25. The officers can also appear personally before the Advisory Committee.
Of the total 163 IAS posts for Telangana, one each is of the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary, 10 of Principal Secretaries and 27 Secretaries, the notification said. Among the 112 IPS posts, one is for the DGP, five for ADGs, 13 IGs, 11 DIGs and 31 SPs.
Of the 65 IFS posts, two are for the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, three for Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, five for Chief Conservator of Forests and 10 for conservator of forests, it said.
