Cyclone Hudhud hits Visakhapatnam HYDERABAD: The very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud had hit Visakhapatnam at about 10.30 a.m, wreaking havoc in the north and mid coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. The cyclonic storm which generated winds upto a speed of about 150 to 200 kmph, uprooting trees and hoardings in Visakhapatnam and other towns in coastal districts.
The met department had announced that the cyclonic storm made a land fall at about 10.30 a.m. at Rishikonda in Visakhapatnam and its impact will continue to be there for the next 24 hours.
The major destruction was caused by the winds that scythed through the coast from Kakinada to Itchapuram in Andhra Pradesh. The fishermen are the worst hit with their boats and fishing nets having been washed away.
The sea remained very rough since yesterday evening with huge waves hitting the coast with deafening sound.
