Narendra Modi calls Naidu to enquire situation Hyderabad, October 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu and enquired about the situation in the State after the cyclone Hudhud crossed the coast near Visakhapatnam.
Naidu told reporters that the Prime Minister gave assurance to extend all possible help to the State. The Chief Minister informed Mr. Modi that it was a very severe cyclone. It has crossed the coast and the State was assessing the damages. The state machinery was fully geared to meet any eventuality.
He told Modi that he would visit the cyclone affected areas of three districts of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram on Sunday and camp there to supervise rescue and relief measures.
Naidu and the Chief Secretary, I.Y. R. Krishna Rao arrived at Secretariat in the morning itself and kept monitoring the situation.
Rao said three persons were killed, one in wall collapse in Anakapalli and two others when trees fell on them in Srikakulam. Six persons who were caught in the swollen Nagavalli river were being rescued by a NDRF team, he added.
