Scores of pilgrims stranded in Tirupati TIRUPATI: Hundreds of pilgrims from the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) districts of the state, who had come to Tirupati to visit the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, were left stranded in the temple town due to the cancellation of some trains and diversion of routes of several other trains heading towards Visakhapatnam due to the cyclone 'Hudhud'.
Despite the advance notice by the Railways about the cancellation/diversion of trains due to the cyclone threat, several pilgrims from the North Coastal who had booked their train as well as the 'Seva' tickets in advance chose not to put off their visit to the temple town -- and got stranded here.
The cancellation of trains like the Tirupati-Visakhapatnam Tirumala Express and Tirupati-Puri Express on Saturday and Sunday, forced the pilgrims to search for alternative modes of transport. However, not many of them were successful in this regard.
