Storm weakens, rains to continue HYDERABAD : Very severe cyclone storm Hudhud, which made the landfall near Visakhapatnam, has weakened into a severe cyclonic storm as it moved inland towards the southern parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
It is likely to weaken further into a cyclone storm by Monday morning and into a depression by Monday night. Under the influence of the cyclonic system, heavy rain will occur over Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam district, and very heavy rains are likely at a few places over those three districts.
The Met department warns that though the storm is weakening, it is likely cause damage to huts; tree branches would break due strong winds; and there could be minor damage to power and communication lines. Small trees could be uprooted and heavy rain could cause damage to crops.
Telangana State and south coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh will receive widespread rains at most of the places and there will be scattered rains in Rayalaseema on Monday and Tuesday.
Heavy rains are forecast in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimangar, Warangal and Khammam districts of Telangana in the next two days. The rest of the state would receive moderate rains.
