One dead, 2 hurt in hoarding collapse at Gachibowli HYDERABAD : One person died and two others were injured when a hoarding that was erected by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for the XI Metropolis World Congress fell on them, near Motel hotel at Gachibowli in Raidurgam police limits here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Pritdvisena Reddy from Kukatpally (29), working as a manager of a house-keeping unit at an IT firm. The injured are Venkateswara Rao and Ravi.
According to police, the mishap happened around 11:30 am. The three were travelling on separate bikes when the hoarding broke loose and collapsed on them.
Reddy died on the spot and the other two suffered serious head injuries. Traffic came to a standstill for a couple of hours following the accident. Eyewitnesses alerted the police immediately and took the injured bikers, Rao and Ravi, to a nearby hospital. Their condition is now stable, police said.
Police blamed GHMC officials for their negligence in the erection of the hoarding. They said some of the bolts of the hoarding were not fixed properly as a result of which the hoarding broke loose and came crashing down. Reddy's body was sent for post mortem and a case of negligence was registered by the police.
