Death toll due to 'Hudhud' cyclone mounts to 21 Hyderabad, Oct 13 (INN): As many as 21 deaths have been reported from three out of four districts till 6 PM on Monday which were struck by cyclone Hudhud on Sunday noon.
While 15 deaths have been reported from Visakhapatnam, five people were killed in Vizianagaram and one persons died in Srikakulam district. No loss of human life has been reported from East Godavari district.
As many as 248,004 people got affected 320 villages of 44 mandals in four districts. The authorities have set up 223 relief camps where 135,262 people have been shifted. A total of 223 medical camps have also been set up. Presently, 24 NDRF teams, 4 Army/Navy teams, 691 swimmers and 56 boats have been deployed in the affected areas.
A total of 6695 houses, 109 Rail/Roads, 5,727 Electric Pole/Transformers, 19 Tank/Canals, 395 Public Properties and 73 Drinking Water resources got damaged, as per preliminary estimates. As many as 1,798 animals were also killed due to cyclone. The authorities have so far rescued 146 persons.
