Chiru releases Rs 50 lakh from MPLADS fund HYDERABAD: Stating that the devastation caused by Hudhud has ruined the entire north coastal Andhra, former Union minister K Chiranjeevi has appealed to the Centre to declare the devastation caused by the cyclone as a national calamity. He announced release of Rs 50 lakh from his MPLADS fund for the cyclone victims.
In a press statement, Chiranjeevi quoted experts as saying that the destruction caused by Hudhud was incomparable in the last 50 years. 'Vishakapatnam city alone has suffered damages to the tune of Rs 60,000 crore.
It is estimated that Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam districts and parts of East Godavari have together suffered damages amounting to Rs 1 lakh crore,' he said. Chiranjeevi said he would tour the cyclone-hit areas along with other Congress leaders on October 19 and 20.
