Fee sop: No mention of AP students in TS
HYDERABAD: Without giving any clarity to Andhra students who are local to Telangana as per the Presidential Order and could not avail the FAST scheme implemented by the TS government, AP government on Saturday released the guidelines for the fee reimbursement scheme for the current academic year (2014-15), in the reorganised state.
Though AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier announced that the AP government would reimburse the fee of Andhra students in Telangana, the latest guidelines issued by the AP have not given any clarity whether the state would bear their fee reimbursement expenses.
The AP government on Saturday stated that fee reimbursement will be provided to students, who are local to AP, whether they are studying in AP or Telangana.
A day after its Telangana counterpart had issued the guidelines for the implementation of FAST scheme, which replaced the fee reimbursement scheme in the new state, AP government too released the guidelines for fee reimbursement scheme.
As per the GO No 72, issued by the AP social welfare department for sanctioning post-matric scholarships to SC, ST, BC, EBC, minority and physically challenged students by way of reimbursing the tuition fee and maintenance fee, the scholarships shall be sanctioned to the students in Telangana who are local to AP.
The GO states
Post-matric scholarships shall be sanctioned to Telangana students, who are local to AP and studying in institutions located in AP
AP students who are local to AP and studying in institutions located in Telangana, as per the state students norms
The term 'local' shall be defined as per the provisions of Article 371 D of the Constitution
INCOME LIMIT
An income limit of Rs 2 lakh per annum has been set for availing fee reimbursement. Students will have to submit details of any four wheelers owned by them or their parents, in addition to Aadhaar card numbers of both parents and the student.
Also to be submitted are: Income and nativity certificates issued after June 2, 2014, by the tahsildar through Mee Seva; and PAN card number, if possessed.
