Candlelight rally in Vizag to support cyclone victims HYDERABAD: The Beach Road in Visakhapatnam will sparkle with lights on Wednesday evening, setting the stage for Deepavali on October 23. The candlelight vigil will be observed by the government to help people forget the trauma of Hudhud cyclone.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will join the residents of the city on the Beach Road, apparently to instil confidence in their minds and stand by them in this hour of tribulation.
Lending a hand to the government will be the Eastern Naval Command which will sent 300 staff members to join the celebrations. In fact, the Navy would be in the front of a candle light procession that is proposed to be taken out along the beach. This apart, officials have been asked to talk to the people living in apartments on the Beach Road to illuminate their homes with lights.
District collector N Yuva Raj, at a review meeting here on Tuesday, on the preparations for the celebrations, told officials to ensure that the procession progresses in an orderly manner.
'Candles should be handed over to participants and collected at the end of the procession in a decent manner,' the collector told the officials.
