AP to start 1,000 generic Medical Shops Hyderabad, Oct 28 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to launch 1,000 medical shops across the State where generic medicines would be sold at discounted rates of nearly 25 per cent.
Speaking to media persons at the State Secretariat here, AP Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said that the file pertaining to the setting of medical shops is pending with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for final approval. Once approved, the medical shops, along with district-level Stock Depots would be set up in 91 days.
The minister informed that two Super Specialty Hospitals were sanctioned for the State as per the AP Reorganisation Act. As a follow-up action, the government has identified land for one hospital in Anantapur while land identification process would be completed in Vijayawada in the next one week. He said six Super Specialty hospitals would be established at different places on the lines of VIMS. The government has also sanctioned Rs 80 crore for the promotion of District and Area hospitals by introducing super-specialty facilities.
Srinivas said that the government proposes to increase revenue from Arogyasri cases from present 30% to 50%.
The minister also announced that the Employees Health Cards would be issued on October 30 and they would be operational from November 1. Similarly, the Journalists' Health Cards would become operational from December 1.
