HUJ holds dharna against attack on a Reporter
Hyderabad, Oct 28 (INN): The Hyderabad Union of Journalists along with Ranga Reddy Union of Journalists on Tuesday held a strong protest against the attack on the reporter of 4TV News channel K Dattu Raju when he had gone to cover the agitation by the girl students of Dr. V.R.K. Medical College at Aziznagar.
The girl students were holding demonstration against one Dr. Naveed Altaf for his alleged indecent behaviour and use of foul language against them. They accused him of passing personal comments and threatening of dire consequences if they complain to the authorities. On learning about this, the 4TV Reporter when to the college and started video-recording the protest. However, Dr Naveen and his henchmen - Shafee, Maqbool and Meeraj obstructed, beaten him with hands and damaged his Panasonic camera. They also took away his cell phone and threatened him of dire consequences.
On learning about the attack, HUJ coordinator Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin and President Srikanth Reddy, Laxman and Yadaiah of RRUWJ, along with other journalists reached the spot and lodged a strong protest against the college management demanding action against Dr Naveed Altaf and his henchmen. They also approached Cyberabad Commissioner CV Anand who in turn directed Moinabad SHO Ravi Chandra to register the case. Subsquently, the Moinabad police registered a case under FIR No 277/2014 under Sections 341, 323, 427 and 506 IPC against Dr Naveed and his henchmen and began investigations.
