Telangana tourism to develop Kaleshwaram circuit Hyderabad : Continuing its efforts to improve tourist destinations to attract visitors, the TSTDC recently called for bids to develop Kaleshwaram village in Karimnagar where tourist sites like the famous Mukteshwara Swami Temple and the merging point of three rivers, 'Triveni Sangamam' are located. The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) recently called for bids on a tender that would see improved tourist facilities being developed over the next 12 months.
Works like modernizing existing government hotels, undertaking repair works necessary and constructing new buildings and tourist facilities would be overseen by the corporation once the bids are received and the tender is awarded.
Kaleshwaram village is located about 277 km away from Hyderabad and is located close to the borders of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states. Among the biggest tourist attractions to the village is the temple of Lord Shiva that has two Shiva Lingas on the same pedestal.
The location of Kaleshwaram coincides with the juncture of River Godavari and its tributary, River Pranahita. But this point is called 'Triveni Sangamam' or confluence of three rivers, as it is believed that another river named Saraswati flows under the Godavari and Pranahita.
The Triveni Sangamam is also a center for Pushkaralu, which are organized once every 12 years. During Pushkaralu, it is believed that a person who takes a dip in the river would be blessed by gods and be relieved of all their sins. As the next Godavari Pushkaralu is expected to take place in December 2015, tourism officials expressed confidence that the development works would be finished in time.
As a large number of devotees and tourists flock to Kaleshwaram during the Pushkaralu, the modernization and construction of facilities would certainly help in providing a better experience, officials said.
According to the bid documents, various construction and maintenance works are expected to cost about Rs 3.5 crore, though this amount is only provisional and may vary from the actual cost. Officials said that they were holding talks with the RTC officials to improve connectivity to the historical temple.
