CPI demands transparent land-pooling system GUNTUR: CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna has demanded that the government ensure transparency in acquiring land for capital construction.
Speaking to reporters at Nidamarru after visiting the villages in Mangalagiri and Tulluru mandals, he said CPI is not against the region being selected for capital construction but the government's unilateral decision to acquire land is unacceptable.
Farmers have many apprehensions over the land-pooling system. Instead of driving them into a state of panic, the government should bring about transparency in pooling land for the capital and ensure that no farmer is affected in any manner, he added.
'It is not just farmers but others like farm labourers are also dependent on rural economy for their livelihood. Either farmers or the government should benefit from the land but not the real estate developers.
Also, there is no clarity as to on why the government wants to acquire 30,000 acres for capital construction. An all-party meeting has to be convened and the farmers have to be invited to participate in it,' demanded the CPI state secretary.
