Power generation at Srisailam stalled HYDERABAD: Telangana government, which had stopped power generation at the Srisailam hydel power project as per the direction of the Krishna River Management Board(KRMB) on November 2, started power generation again on Tuesday for a brief period.
TSGenco officials started power generation at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday but was, however, was stopped at 6.20 a.m.
Though officials were claiming that power generation was stopped due to technical reasons, but it was learnt that since AP irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao and other senior officials were meeting Union water resources minister Uma Bharathi in delhi, the TS government has decided to temporally stop generation.
However, it is learnt that the TS government had asked officials to start power generation from Wednesday morning.
According to officials during the 20-minutes around 40 MW of power was generated and the outflow was 2,000 cusecs.
Power generation was stopped at Srisailam on Monday following the Krishna River Management Board's direction. The board had directed Telangana to avail only 3 tmc ft of water for power generation based on water levels.
About 8,800 cusecs of inflows were reported into the reservoir and outflows fell to 2,050 cusecs after power generation was stopped. The water level in the reservoir is reported at 857.50 ft.
By 9.20 am on Monday, the outflow from Nagarjunasagar was recorded at 23,501 cusecs.
