Elevated Metro Rail suitable for Vizag VISAKHAPATNAM: Reviewing the proposed metro rail project for Visakhapatnam, E Sreedharan, advisor of Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Project, opined that an elevated rapid transit system will be feasible for the city.
The 'Metroman', who arrived in the city with a team of experts, held discussions with the line departments of the project and made suggestions to make the project viable.
He interacted with the higher officials of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and police department at VUDA administration office.
During the meeting, GVMC commissioner M Janaki and VUDA vice-chairman MV Seshagiri Babu gave detailed presentations on the logistics of the project.
Sreedharan said that the project would have to cover railway station, central bus station, major markets and business lines.
DMRC director SD Sharma, general manager RG Sharma, DMRC chief consultant BB Shankar, manager V Armstrong, Vijayawada metro deputy project director P Ranga Rao, GVMC chief engineer B Jayarami Reddy and chief planner Vidyullatha were present.
He also visited the railway station, bus station and other places in the city along with a team of experts.
