KCR asks Errabelli to hold his tongue HYDERABAD: The ruling TRS and opposition TDP have given enough hints of what the state Assembly would witness in the budget session.
At the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked TDP members to mind their tongue and the latter retorted with some obnoxious words, turning the meeting into a platform to outwit each other. Other senior members pacified the two sides, sources said.
As soon as the meeting began to finalise the agenda for the session, KCR objected to TDP MLA Revanth Reddy's presence at the meeting. Errabelli intervened and reminded KCR of his promise to allow two members of the TDP to take part in the meeting.
'In the last session you had agreed to include Revanth Reddy as a special invitee. You are going back on your word. Do you not keep your word?' Errabelli shot back.
Errabelli recalled that in the past when the TRS had only 10 members in the Assembly, two of them were allowed to attend the BAC meeting. As the tempers ran high, Errabelli flew into a rage and used obnoxious words. At this, KCR got angry and asked him to hold his tongue.
The matter became worse when Revanth Reddy joined the argument. Revanth argued that when parties which had just two or three members in the Assembly were allowed to send one member to the meeting, then why not TDP which had 15 members.
'I attended the last BAC meeting as a special invitee. Why I was not given the invitation this time?' he asked. As the argument heated up, KCR said that he knew how to run the House. Revanth shot back saying that he knew how to behave in the Assembly.
What was the use of running the House for a month when TDP members did not have patience to listen to the crucial budget speech, the CM wondered.
As the situation was spinning out of control, leader of the opposition in the Assembly and senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy and BJP leader K Lakshman intervened and pacified both the leaders.
Jana faulted the Speaker for taking a U-turn on allowing Revanth Reddy to the meeting.
'What is this? Just now you have said that Revanth can participate in the meeting and, after KCR objected to his presence, you are changing your stance. This is not right,' he said.
The meeting did not discuss any of the important issues as most of its time was consumed by the verbal duel over Revanth's presence.
