HMDA asked to appoint consultant for ITIR project: KTR Hyderabad, Nov 7 (INN): Telangana Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Friday informed that Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has been directed to work out detailed plans for Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) jointly with the ITE&C Department.
Replying to a question raised by Congress MLCs D Srinivas, M Ranga Reddy, Farooq Hussain and K Nageshwar in the State Legislative Council, the minister said that the ITIR would bring direct revenues of Rs 310,849 crore and it has an IT investment potential of Rs 219,440 crore. It is expected to have IT exports of Rs 235,000 crore and the tax revenues to the State will increase by Rs 30,170 crore.
KTR said that Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, in particular, and the remaining districts of Telangana State, in general, will gain from the project.
"When the ITIR is fully implemented and commissioned, it is expected to generate an additional direct IT employment of 15.4 lakhs (14 lakh jobs in IT/ITES and 1.4 lakh jobs in Electronic Hardware and Manufacturing sectors).
The indirect employment generation by the IT Sector as per the findings of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) is four times of the direct employment and hence, while the IT activities in the ITIR will generate additional 50.6 lakh of indirect jobs and EHM industry will generate additional employment for 2.3 lakh people in the service industry like catering, housekeeping, security, transport, etc.," the Minister said.
