KCR launches Aasara scheme Hyderabad, Nov 8 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday launched "Aasara", the pension delivery scheme, for old aged, widows and physically disabled.
Speaking after launching the scheme at Kothur of Mahabubngar district, KCR announced that the State Government would provide pension to all the eligible beneficiaries. He said Rs 4000 crore would be earmarked for the schemes in State's annual budget. He advised the eligible and deserving beneficiaries, who did not get the pension, to apply afresh and asked the officials to clear their applications.
The Chief Minister alleged that the previous regimes resorted to irregularities in implementing the pension scheme. He said old age pensions were given to persons as young as 30 years.
However, he said that the TRS Government was firm on weeding fake beneficiaries from all the schemes. He warned of stern action against the officials if they indulge in any irregularities.
He said that he TRS Government had enhanced the pension amount for old age and widows to Rs 1,000 from Rs 200 and Physically Handicapped pensions to Rs 1,500 from Rs 500, in view of rising inflation.
KCR also assured that new ration cards would be issued to eligible beneficiaries soon. He said each persons in a family will get 6 kgs of rice at Re 1 kg.
The Chief Minister also promised to take steps for the development of Mahabubnagar district. He said a facelift would be given to Palamuru and the Palamuru Lif Irrigation Project would be started immediately after the survey, which is nearing completion.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister T Rajaiah launched the scheme in Warangal and assured that the government would spend adequate amounts for the development of poor.
Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy, who launched the scheme in Hyderabad, said that the TRS Government has fulfilled another major promise it made with the people of Telangana during elections.
Excise Minister T Padma Rao launched the 'Aasara' scheme in Wyra of Khammam district while Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao distributed pension among beneficiaries in Medak. He also announced that '6 kg per head rice scheme' at Re 1 per kg will be launched from December 6.
