Land for Capital: Farmers for a face-to-face with CM HYDERABAD: In what could be seen as an all-out attempt to pacify farmers, who have rejected the compensation package offered to them in return for their lands for the construction of the new capital, the Cabinet sub-committee on land pooling on Sunday promised them 'statutory guarantee' for the benefits offered.
During their maiden visit to the villages, where land has to be acquired, members of the panel invited the local land owners for a face-to-face interaction with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad on Nov 17 or 18.
'You can present your views before the Chief Minister and get assurances over the statutory status for the land pooling directly from him,' committee members Prathipati Pulla Rao and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao told the farmers.
As per the directive of Naidu, the panel members Pulla Rao and Umamaheswara Rao along with local MLA T Sravan Kumar visited Nelapadu and Tullur villages. Pulla Rao said several sops including waiver of agriculture loans up to `1.5 lakh in one settlement and construction of houses would be provided.
'The villages will be developed under a special package. Village tanks and other structures like temples will not be touched,' the minister assured.
