Anam folowers in Nellore defect to TDP NELLORE: In a major blow to the Congress in Nellore district, MLC V Narayana Reddy, District Co-operative Central Bank (DCCB) Chairman M Dhananjaya Reddy, and Vice-Chairman Nallapu Reddy Jagan Mohan Reddy along with their followers joined the TDP in the presence of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad on Sunday.
It is learnt that State Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana and TDP leaders like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Adala Prabhakara Reddy and party district president B Ravichandra have played a major role in bringing the three Congress leaders into the TDP fold.
It may be recalled here that Narayana Reddy and Dhananjaya Reddy were prot'g's of finance minister of the undivided state Anam Ramanarayana Reddy.
However, after the Congress party lost power in AP after bifurcation of the state, the duo decided to shift their loyalties to the TDP.
Meanwhile, dubbing both Narayana Reddy and Dhananjaya Reddy as betrayers, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, former Nellore Rural MLA and brother of Ramnarayan Reddy, told newsmen here that it was unfortunate that the duo who had got their respective posts and enjoyed power during the Congress rule had crossed over to the TDP for their political survival.
Alleging that minister P Narayana had secured his post by paying Rs 100 crore to TDP supremo and CM Chandrababu Naidu, Reddy said that Naidu would one day pay a heavy price for giving top priority to the corporate kings (Narayana is the owner of a big group of educational institutions spread across AP and Telangana) and ignoring senior party leaders like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, K Srinivasulu Reddy and T Anuradha who had worked hard for the party, when it was in opposition.
