KCR wants Telangana 'Bidda' in Indian cricket team HYDERABAD: Aspiring that the Indian national cricket team should have a Telangana 'Bidda' (son of the soil) to represent the state, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has proposed a cricket stadium in every district so as to hone the skills of the budding cricketers. He also wants to develop a Sports City in Hyderabad.
'Talented youth should be imparted proper training and encouragement,' he said and asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to look into the issue as it has the necessary experiences and financial resources.
Chandrasekhar Rao greets the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli before the 3rd ODU match between Indian and Sri Lanka on Sunday
Rao gave vent to his feelings at a meeting held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal here during the third one-day international cricket match between India and Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Rao was accorded a warm reception by Hyderabad Cricket Association president Arshad Ayub and others. He shook hands with the members of both teams and umpires, and welcomed them to the new state of Telangana.
Rao said that HCA should come forward to construct a stadium in each and every district of Telangana. 'We will take all possible steps to provide land to the HCA and will cooperate in all aspects,' he assured. He sought suggestions from them on constructing a sports city of international standards on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
SPECIAL FOR RAYUDU: Andhra Pradesh cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who is the only representative from the Telugu- speaking states in the Indian cricket team, got a special treatment from Rao.
While he shook hands and casually interacted with other cricketers, umpires and team staff, Rao not only shook hands with Rayudu but also planted a kiss on his palm. The 29-year-old Rayudu was born at Guntur in AP, and represented the Baroda and Hyderabad Ranji teams earlier.
