Rein in AP on power: TS House to Centre HYDERABAD: After more than five-hour-long verbal duel between the Opposition and treasury benches, the State Assembly passed a unanimous resolution asking the Centre to rein in AP for not giving Telangana State its share of power, and divert power allocated to AP to TS, if the latter does not abide by the AP Reorganisation Act.
A discussion on AP government's attitude in sharing power with TS raised by E Ravinder Reddy (TRS) saw a war of words between the TDP, Congress and TRS over neglecting farmers. It turned into a big debate.
The TRS led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao launched a scathing attack on the TDP and Congress for the state of affairs. Rao was particularly critical over TDP chief and AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu for making all-out efforts to stop power to TS.
He read out orders by various constitutional bodies, pointing towards AP's adamant attitude in giving the rightful share of power to TS.
Rao said the AP government has denied share of 980 MW in Sileru. Besides it did not schedule 500 MW power generated in Krishnapatnam project.
'It is the duty of the Central government to see that AP Reorganisation Act-2014 is honoured by AP government and give Telangana its rightful share of 53.89 per cent power generated by plants located both in AP and TS,' Rao said.
The Chief Minister also explained various measures to add 24,000 MW power in next five years. Rao said the combined power generation by AP and TS was 9,500 MW only and both the states were facing power shortage 'Even AP too is facing problems.
However, TS responded in a positive manner and supplied transformers and conductors to Hudhud-hit areas in AP,' Rao recalled and wanted the same kind of spirit from AP.
TDP's Revanth Reddy tried to prove a point that it was not the AP CM who is stopping power supply to TS. This enraged the CM who shot back, 'This is the black day in the history of TS Assembly. How can you take the side of a neighbouring state?' The ruling party members kept shouting slogans that TDP members were acting as 'slaves' of Andhra leaders.
Finally, the House adopted a resolution urging the Centre to see that AP implemented the Act in toto and TS got its rightful share in power.
