HYDERABAD: A two-member bench comprising justices Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya and NV Ramana of the Supreme Court on Monday recused from hearing the petition by the Telangana government against the Krishna Water Tribunal award.
Telangana moved the Supreme Court challenging the award of Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal headed by Justice Brijesh Kumar given in 2013. It also challenged the recent order of the Krishna River Management Board to stop hydel generation after drawing 3 tmcft of water from the Srisailam reservoir.
The state contended that the erstwhile AP government had not properly placed the water requirements of Telangana region before the tribunal and if the award were to be implemented in toto the newly-formed state would be put to irreparable loss.
