Tough norms in place for Toddy shops: Padma Rao Hyderabad, Nov 12 (INN): Prohibition and Excise Minister T Padma Rao on Wednesday assured the State Legislative Council that stern action would be taken against the Toddy shops if they violate any rules.
Replying to a question raised by Congress MLCs Dharmapuri Srinivas and others during Question Hour, the minister informed that the government has decided to re-open the toddy shops in GHMC limits.
He said inspections are being conducted at regular intervals and cases of adulteration are being detected and licenses are being cancelled, besides initiating action against the licensees/offenders under sections 37 and 37 (A) of AP Excise Act, 1968.
He said the licensed toddy shop premises shall be at least 100 metres away from the places of worship, education institution, labour colonies, etc.
