Woman washed away in flooding nala Hyderabad: Heavy rain disrupted normal life in the city on Wednesday with reports of a woman waiting for an Uppal-bound bus at Secunderabad being washed away in a nearby nala.
The deceased woman has been identified as Krishnaveni, 25, a resident of Aliabad in Shameerpet mandal. Eye-witnesses said that the woman accidentally fell in to the open nala after she tried to cross it during heavy downpour.
The city received an average 4.34 cm rainfall on Wednesday evening, which crippled road traffic at almost all major junctions in the city. A high of 7 cm has been recorded in Asifnagar, followed by 6.9 cm in Shaikpet.
Several roads and low-lying areas were submerged due to the spell of heavy rains that lashed the city on Wednesday evening. Water logging has been reported from Koti, Abids, Nampally, Basheerbagh, Kukatpally, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Khairtabad, Secunderabad, Panjagutta, Erragadda, Somajiguda, Narayanguda, Saidabad, Dilsukhnagar, Vijayanagar Colony, Tarnaka and other areas.
The water-logging threw traffic out of gear on many busy stretches. Traffic came to standstill between Khairtabad and NTR Gardens due to the sudden downpour. Those going from offices faced hardship in reaching their homes.
According to the GHMC, many areas in the city received heavy to very heavy rainfall. The maximum temperature recorded on Wednesday was 32 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 22 degree Celsius.
