KCR reviews Mission Kakatiya

Hyderabad, Nov 13 (INN): The Government of Telangana is contemplating with the idea of conducting survey by using Geographical Information Systems and Lidar Technology all the tanks as part of Mission Kakatiya and Telangana Water Grid as well as Mapping of Hyderabad.

Initially 10 to 15 tanks will be surveyed on pilot basis that are close to Hyderabad city in Mandals of Bhongir, Aleru, Munugodu, Medchel etc. Issuing instructions to this effect to the concerned officers, Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao said that by using the same technology survey would also be conducted for identifying the check dams on the rivers and river let's to be built.

Mumbai based Genesys International Corporation Limited who are experts in all kinds of mapping as well as surveys using GIS and Lidar Technology called on the Honourable Chief Minister this evening at secretariat, Hyderabad.

They told the CM that they have solutions built on this data for urban governance and for all water related schemes. They informed that earlier they have mapped Lavasa City of Pune, Mumbai and parts of UP State. They also told the CM that for Hyderabad City they will create a 3-D environment which can be used for Urban Governance Solutions.

Interacting with the Managing Director Sajid Malik and Dr. S.D. Tripathi, Vice President of Genesys International Corporation Ltd, the Chief Minister said that Hyderabad is one of the historic and oldest cities of the world like Istanbul and it needs to be developed without disturbing the existing structure.

He said, that, the city would grow multi-fold and the population would touch more than two crores shortly and as such it needs to be taken care off. He said that lot of re-engineering and re working of Hyderabad has to be done failing which its survival will be difficult, for which the entire data should be available through mapping.

The CM said that many people are coming forward to invest in developing Hyderabad. The Chief Minister, however, added that those who come forward to develop needs to understand as to what exactly to be done for this purpose.

The Chief Minister enquired Genesys International Corporation whether they would be able to digitalise and map the Hyderabad City and what would be the time frame for it. He asked them to explore the possibilities preparing a master plan dealing with all aspects of the present Hyderabad like easing out congestion and traffic problems in the 7500 Sq.Kms area under HMDA.

He said that meticulous planning is needed. The CM also said that Hyderabad gets every year 10 lakhs population added and accordingly the plans have to be worked out. He said that if the city is expanded in an unscientific manner generations to come will curse us.

Hyderabad has a God given drain that flows within the city but it is in a ruined and spoiled condition. Even a small amount of rain water, traffic gets into problems and even areas in front of Raj Bhavan, Assembly and CM's Camp Office inundate with rain waters. This situation needs to be overcome.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to CM S. Narsing Rao, Parliament Member Boora Narsaiah Goud, Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, Advisor to CM Vidyasagar Rao, Engineer in Chief Murali, Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj Raymond Peter and Special Secretary to CM Smita Sabarwal.
