110 acres allotted for Krishna University MACHILIPATNAM: BC welfare and excise minister Kollu Ravindra has said that a stadium will be constructed at Machilipatnam at a cost `5 crore. Inaugurating the three-day Krishna University's youth festival 'Krishna Tarang 2014', the minister said that the government had sanctioned 110 acres of land and the necessary funds for the development of the university.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu would lay the foundation-stone for construction of university buildings in February 2015, he disclosed.
Krishna University vice-chancellor Vunnam Venkaiah said that KU had received many district and national-level awards in sports this year and appreciated the women's Kabaddi team which bagged the national award.
'Around 1,200 students from over 40 colleges are participating in various competitions and the cultural events during the festiva,' he added.
Later, the newsletter of Krishna varsity was released by Ravindra. Journalism HoD C M Vinaya Kumar and dean of sciences M Basaveswara Rao were among those present.
