Will act as a bridge between Telangana and Centre: Dattatreyya Hyderabad, Nov 15 (INN): Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya has assured the people of Telangana that he would try his level best to represent the State in New Delhi.
He was speaking at the felicitation function organised by the Telangana Government at Jal Vihar here on Saturday. Dattatreyya said he would act as a bridge between the State and Centre.
He said he would speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the energy crisis being faced by the State. Further, he would facilitate the State's delegation meet with the Prime Minister and other Central leaders.
Dattatreyya also announced that a new world-class medical college would be set up in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 450 crore. He also assured to resolve the problems being faced by Beedi workers in Telangana.
As the Union Labour Minister, he said he would ensure that health insurance and Provident Fund for employees is made compulsory for all the firms across the country. He also assured his cooperation in making Hyderabad a global city.
Stating that Telangana was rich in natural resources, Dattatreyya stressed the need for their better utilisation for State's development. Praising the State Government's to beautify Hussainsagar lake, he said he would get required assistance from the Centre for the proposed project.
He informed that he already spoke to Union Agriculture Minister requesting him to direct Cotton Corporation of India to purchase cotton from Telangana farmers.
Dattatreyya urged all leaders to rise above political lines to ensure the development of Telangana State.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao hoped that Dattatreyya would play a major role in making Telangana the best State in the country.
He praised the role played by Dattatreyya in the Telangana statehood movement and said that the BJP leader was aware of the backwardness of the region. He said Centre's cooperation was must to develop the State.
Leader of the Opposition in Assembly K Jana Reddy asked Dattatreyya to seek Centre's intervention in ensuring that the proper implementation of AP State Reorganisation Act.
He asked him to represent to the Centre on getting 54% share in power from Andhra Pradesh projects. Stating that several projects of Telangana are pending with the Centre, he requested Dattatreyya to convince the Centre to clear them.
Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary, Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, former Governor of Sikkim V Rama Rao, Deputy Chief Ministers Mahmood Ali and Dr T Rajaiah, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, MLAs Dr K Lakshman, Manchi Reddy Kishan and other ministers, legislators and senior officials were also present.
