Rs 1300 Cr to improve city's drainage system: CM
Hyderabad, Nov 19 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has informed the State Legislative Assembly that about Rs 1300 crore are being spent under various schemes to improve underground drainage system in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad for the last 15 years.
Replying to a question raised by MLA V Srinivas Goud and others during Question Hour on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that the improvements of underground drainage system in the twin cities were taken up for developing about 612 Mld capacity STPs, Trunk main sewers, sub-mains and lateral sewers costing about Rs 1300 crore under various schemes funded by World Bank, Megacity, NRCD, JNNURM, etc., All the completed project component are put in to operational.
The Chief Minister said that the improvements of underground drainage system taken up and completed include the 20 Mld STP at Necklace Road with associated trunk sewer mains in World Bank project, 17 trunk sewer mains of 65 km long under SIS, 592 Mld capacity STPs and 31Km length of sewer conveying mains under NRCD, rehabilitation and strengthening and sewer network in Zone-I & II of Old City for 445 Km.
Also sewer network of 59 Km length with 4 STPs of 46 Mld capacity in Serilingampally and 204 Km length sewers with two STPs of total 28 Mld capacity in Rajendranagar circle taken up under JNNURM are also nearing completion.
