TDP state executive meet at Vijayawada VIJAYAWADA: As Vijayawada is poised to be part of the capital region of AP, Telugu Desam Party is holding its state executive here for the first time tomorrow.
The meeting, to be held at a Convention Centre here, will last entire day, The meeting is expected to discuss various issues before the party, the most important being the need of the party to persuade farmers in villages where the capital city would come up in parting their lands under the state government's land pooling programme.
The chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to stress the role the TDP has to play in reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation by explaining in detail the government's thinking to people on ameliorating the living standards of people.
The chief minister is also expected to focus on the need for development of remaining districts for which the party had already announced a number of schemes and projects. Notably, Transport Minister Siddha Rahgava Rao has announced only yesterday that how an industrial corridor would be created in Donakonda region of Prakasam district.
As Naidu is pitching for a long innings in power in AP, he might call upon the party leaders and cadres to strengthen it from grass root level in areas where it is weak. As there is YSRCP ready to grab the political space occupied by the TDP, party leaders are expected not to rest contended that the party had won the last elections but work assiduously to consolidate the gains it had made at the hustings and keep the YSRCP at bay.
Though BJP is not a threat to the TDP, yet the party is keenly watching its moves. As it has already admitted Congress leaders Kanna Lakhminarayana, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and D Purandeswari into its fold, the TDP wants to ensure that its base would remain intact.
Recently Minister Ravela Kishore Babu recently had said the party would review its political alliance with BJP if it admitted Congress leaders into its party and organise protests against the government which indicated how the TDP was reacting to the developments.
Though Naidu asked Ravela to keep quiet and not air opinions on the policies of the party, the fact remains that the TDP is ill at ease over the saffron party's keenness in growing at TDP's expense.
According to party sources, Naidu would dwell at length on making Janmabhoomi, Mana Vuru programmes and the role the TDP workers have to play in making the success. The party chief is also likely to ask the leaders to redouble their efforts to enroll as many number of party activists as possible to make the party strong.
