TS, AP row over Inter exams reache Governor's door steps HYDERABAD: The raging dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over conduct of Intermediate exams took a new turn on Wednesday when education ministers of both states called on Governor ESL Narasimhan. The two states have now started squabbling over the jurisdiction of the Intermediate Board.
Even as the TS and AP governments remained firm on their respective stance of conducting common and separate exams respectively, both parties are now at loggerheads over the jurisdiction over the yet-to-be bifurcated Board of Intermediate established in the erstwhile united AP.
It may be noted that the TS government had already issued orders to set up its own Board of Intermediate Education with its education minister G Jagadish Reddy as chairman. Although at its present premises located at Nampally, the work has been divided between two States, formal bifurcation by dividing assets and staff is still pending.
In his interaction with Narsimhan, Jagadish Reddy staked claim to the Board of Intermediate, which is under the Tenth Schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.
He cited that Section 75 of the Act empowered them to consider institutions geographically located in Telangana as theirs, sources said. However, he offered support to the AP government, if the latter placed a request with the former for help in conducting the Intermediate exams, it is learnt.
On the other hand, AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao was resolute in his stance to conduct common exams and expressed his unhappiness over Telangana staking claim to the Board of Intermediate with a formal bifurcation still pending.
